National Nursing Home Week – May 14-18
National Nursing Home Week is our opportunity to show our residents and stakeholders how much we appreciate them. The theme this year was “Celebrate the Journey.” We began our week with our very own Signature Malt Shop where we served burgers, fries, onion rings, root beer floats and shakes. And what would a malt shop be without “doo woop” music playing! On Tuesday we reminisced and made cookies and pies. We later had a pie walk and cookies and lemonade.
On Wednesday May 16th, we celebrated some very special journeys here at Signature Ormond. We were honored with a visit by Mayor Kelley who presented our facility with a proclamation recognizing the contributions nursing home facilities make in our society. During the ceremony we recognized our oldest resident at 106 years young; our longest time in residence with us at 10 years; we celebrated one of our nurses and her journey to become an LPN; a CNA who has been with us 25 years, and a dietary aide who is continuing her education. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the residents and stakeholders were treated to live entertainment, cheese and crackers, wings, punch and cake. Thursday both residents and stakeholders treated everyone to a fashion show wearing elegant evening wear & accessories. The models paraded around the room to the music of Glen Miller. Friday was the culmination of the weeklong activities. The day began with a visit from Johnny Lambrusco who took everyone through a sentimental journey in time with music from the 40’s on up. The afternoon was spent partying in our Cabaret – Signature style – live entertainment, dancing, food and fun! It was a great week to show how much we care.
